Foundation Day Skit
“Ignite the Flames - The Legacy of Patrician Brothers”
Narrator 1 (Aditi) : Good Morning Respected principal, teachers and dear friends welcome to our Foundation Day celebration.
Narrator 2 (Harshita) : Today, we present the journey of The society of the Patrician Brothers founded on 2nd February 1808 in Tullow, Ireland by Bishop Daniel Delany who was born in Mountrath, Ireland in the year 1747. The congregation derives its name from the Great Apostle of Ireland, St Patrick.
Narrator 1 : Long ago, In Ireland at the time of uncertainty when faith was shaken and society was wounded, People were suppressed, basic Education and faith were forbidden,.. God chose a humble heart to begin a mission that would touch generations.
Narrator 2 : SCENE 1
(Children hide themselves behind bushes.)
British Officer : Here Ye! Here Ye! No Catholic schools! No Catholic worship! The law says ‘no education’. Those who disobey will be punished !
Child 1 (Aarav) : Hide quickly, if they find us learning, we will be punished. Education and faith is not allowed at all. (Whispering)
D. Delany : Speak softly, but learn bravely. They may silence our voices, But they cannot silence truth.
Child 2 (Kiyan) : But why can’t we learn about God, faith and the world. Why are we so suppressed.
D. Delany (Aadit) : My friend, Do not lose hope, knowledge cannot be stopped, One day education will be available for all.
Child 3 (Ryaan) : Daniel, We are poor and the law denies our schooling and faith.
D. Delany (Aadit) : God will defiantly show us the way and poverty shouldn’t decide a child’s future. We will learn quietly in homes and Fields with courage and care…
Child 1 (Aarav) : The ruler may punish all of us please ‘be careful’.
D. Delany (Aadit) : Believe me, Truth grows even under fear and education will be acknowledged as a universal right.
Scene 1 End. (Every child vacate the stage)
Narrator 2 : Young Daniel Delany was sent quietly to France to study priesthood. Daniel Delany returned to Ireland in the year 1776 as a priest.
(Young Daniel Delany Enters and see the same picture, education and faith were still forbidden.)
Daniel: Mother, I have come only to visit you. My studies in France must continue.
Mother: Daniel, look around you. Our people are lost, not because they lack faith, but because they lack guidance.
Daniel: I know their pain, Mother… but returning to France is safer for my calling.
Mother: Safer, yes—but is it where God needs you the most.
Daniel: Ireland is still under oppression. I fear what may happen.
Mother: Faith was never meant to grow in safety alone, my son.
Daniel: What if I am not strong enough for this task?
Mother (holding his hand): God does not choose the strong. He strengthens the chosen.
Daniel (after a pause): Then… mom, I will stay
Mother (smiling with tears putting hand on his shoulder): Yes Stay, Daniel. One day, your sacrifice will give hope to generations.
Narrator 1 : Daniel Delany sits alone and pray
Daniel (sadly) : Lord, the world is hurting. Children are without education… families without hope…Show me the path You want me to walk.
Narrator 1 : Daniel worked hard quietly in 1784 he was consecrated as Bishop then he found four men who were ordinary Catholic laymen, not priests but they were already active in faith life before becoming Brothers.
Daniel: Patrick, Richar, Ambrose, Maurice. Time has come we should work as congregation but before we go any further, you must know the truth.
Patrick McMahon: Speak freely, Bishop. We are listening.
Daniel: This path offers no wealth, no comfort, and no certainty.
Richard Fitzpatrick: We seek no reward except the good of the young.
Daniel: You may face rejection. This congregation itself may not survive.
Ambrose Dawson: Then let our faith be stronger than our fear.
Daniel: If you unite, you will belong not to yourselves,But to the poor, the forgotten, the uneducated.
Maurice Cummins: Then let education be our prayer and service our vow.
Daniel (after silence): Are you willing to bind your lives together—for this mission?
All Four (together):
Yes. We place our trust in God.
Daniel (solemnly): Then on this day, you shall be known as the **Brothers of St. Patrick** with the motto Christus in Corde Omnium (“”)
All Five (together):
Rooted in faith.
United in dedication.
Committed to the education of the young.
Scene 2 Ends
Girl 1 Paavni : "Christus in Corde Omnium" which means - Christ is in the heart of all. Look around the world and you will find the Patrician Brothers’ work,” “From Ireland to India, from Africa to Australia, they run hundreds of schools in over twenty countries. Wherever they went, they built classrooms, not castles. They educated poor children, welcomed all faiths, and taught discipline, honesty, and service. Their schools did not just give books and exams; they gave hope and direction. The Patrician Brothers believed education could change society, and through generations of students, their mission continues to shape nations quietly but strongly.”
Girl 2 Vyomka : The legacy of the Patrician Brothers is not only buildings or uniforms,” the student reflected. “It is the values they planted. They trained students to be good citizens, kind leaders, and responsible workers. Through education, they fought poverty, ignorance, and division. Many doctors, teachers, engineers, and social workers came from their schools, serving society with integrity. Their focus on moral education, social justice, and community service still guides young minds today. The Patrician Brothers proved that true power lies in service, and their legacy lives on through every life they helped shape.”
Narrator 2 Thus, it has been The Legacy of patrician brothers for over 217 years. Since 1808 the society of Patrician brothers has been serving the Nations and shaping generations through education and value. Once again I wish you all happy Foundation Day.
